On-page SEO audit: the 15-point checklist

A repeatable on-page audit covering titles, headings, content, technical tags and trust signals.

An on-page audit is a repeatable checklist. Run it on every important page and you will catch the problems that quietly cap rankings.

Titles and meta

  • One unique title, 50–60 characters, keyword near the front
  • One meta description, 150–160 characters, with a CTA
  • No duplicate titles or descriptions across pages

Headings

  • Exactly one H1 that matches the page topic
  • H2/H3s that describe sections and include related terms
  • No headings used purely for styling

Content

  • Covers the topic completely; answers the searcher's question early
  • Includes the primary and related keywords naturally
  • Has internal links to related pages

Technical

  • One canonical, absolute, self-referencing where appropriate
  • Images have descriptive alt text
  • Valid structured data for the page type
  • Reasonable load time and mobile layout

Trust

  • Author or business information present
  • Contact details and policy links in the footer
  • Sources or evidence where you make claims
