How to test structured data before and after you ship

Validate JSON-LD with the Rich Results Test, monitor enhancements in Search Console, and avoid the common mistakes.

Structured data only helps if it is valid and on the right page. Testing it is quick — do it before you ship, and monitor after.

Validate before shipping

  • Use the Rich Results Test to check a URL or pasted code for eligible rich results
  • Fix syntax and schema-required-field warnings
  • Use our free JSON-LD validator to check the JSON parses and see the @type

Monitor after shipping

Search Console's Enhancements report shows which structured-data features are detected and any errors or warnings. Check it weekly for new pages.

Test your page's tags

Paste the page HTML into the meta tag extractor to confirm title, description, Open Graph and canonical are all present, and the JSON-LD extractor to see every schema block on the page.

Common issues

  • Markup for content not visible on the page
  • Missing required fields (price, currency, name)
  • Duplicate @types on the same page
  • Using the wrong type for the content

Do it at scale

When you generate pages programmatically, validate the output in CI or in bulk. Our programmatic SEO generator and API make this repeatable.
